Gylfie the barn owl is getting ready for a new clutch of eggs
Elm Stump nest
This next box is a firm favourite of Gylfie the barn owl. She and her partner Dryer raised three chicks here last year and she has also raised two broods here with her previous partner Finn. Now this seasoned barn owl mum is getting ready for the next breeding season, scratching up the dirt at the bottom of the nest so that it will be easy to dig a scrape for her eggs. Gylfie doesn't normally lay until May, when the weather is warmer, but she and Dryer like to stake their claim on a nest early and exclude any competition.
