Cool off this summer with a visit to my wildlife art exhibition to see my latest paintings, photographs and limited edition prints of woodland creatures.  My new collection of paintings goes on show at my wildlife art gallery in Thixendale North Yorkshire from June 16th - July 8th. It includes scenes of owls peering through sun-dappled tree canopies, red squirrels balancing on forest branches, and foxes slinking round tree trunks. Painted in my usual precise and realistic style, this new show reveals the quiet beauty of England’s ancient woodland and the animals that live there.

I have a devoted a lifetime to watching woodland creatures in their natural habitat and my experiences of seeing red squirrels in the Yorkshire Dales, badgers at a sett near my home in Thixendale, foxes in Dalby Forest and deer on the Yorkshire Wolds have informed many of the paintings exhibited in this new show. Click on the links highlighted in the text above to read about some of these amazing sightings in more detail.

Enjoy complimentary refreshments at my wildlife art exhibition

A walk in the woods is all about cooling off in the quiet dappled shade and my exhibition in my beautiful beamed gallery offers the same relief from the summer heat. I will be serving glasses of Pimms or fresh fruit juices for you to sip as you browse and there will also be tea and coffee on offer in case the weather is less than warm this summer. I will be around throughout the exhibition so don't forget to stop for a chat and share your experiences of watching wildlife with me. See inside my studio at my wildlife art exhibition and learn how I work

Over the years I have developed a very detailed painting style in order to portray wildlife as accurately as possible.  I paint directly from my photographs and spend some time working on the composition of each painting. I cut out photos of my subjects and arrange them onto a board until I'm happy with the scene. My new depictions of woodland wildlife are painted from photographs taken in situ and have also been informed by extensive video surveillance. The best of these reference photographs and video clips will be on show alongside my new paintings and prints. I hope that by inviting you in to my studio I can take you on a journey through my creative process: from information boards displayed on the walls that relay the stories of my sightings, through to an exhibition of the photographs and screens showing you the best of the video I take in the field, and on to see my final paintings.

See Live Nest Cams at my wildlife art exhibition

You will also get the chance to see directly into the secret worlds of the owls and kestrels in my garden via TV screens streaming live footage from cameras hidden in their nests. Already the kestrel pair have laid three eggs so by the time my exhibition opens you should be able to see the adults as they feed the chicks live! I'm also expecting the barn owls to also lay any day now - so again look out for this unique view into the daily lives of these beautiful white owls and their young. You can also keep up to date with the individual stories of these birds from inside my nest boxes via my blog posts of the Kestrel Cam and the Barn Owl Cam. I update these every week so don't forget to check in regularly to find out the latest.

Find out what has inspired me to paint woodland wildlife for this art exhibition

My new exhibition was inspired by the news this year that the government is to support the planting of a new 'Northern' forest. The project is being managed by the Woodland Trust. It is expected to take 25 years to complete and will involve planting 50 million trees in an area that stretches along a 120 mile stretch of land running alongside the M62 and linking forests in the Yorkshire Dales to woodland in the Wolds and south Yorkshire . It's an ambitious scheme covering a tremendous area, but it has already had a pledge of £5.7m from the government and it is something I would like to see come to fruition in my lifetime. Woodland provides essential habitat for so much wildlife and is also key to protecting our countryside from flood damage. Click here to read more about the project.

“It’s great to be able to see what Robert Fuller is working too on and he’s very approachable, friendly and pleasant when he's in the gallery. The staff are great and very helpful when it comes to frame choices etc and prints posted out are really well packaged. All in all a visit is a lovely experience and to be recommended to anyone art lover or not.” LizSheff, Sheffield.

Beautiful setting in Thixendale in the Yorkshire Wolds - a barn owl flew our car as we drove up to the farm which should give you some idea of the site. Robert Fuller is an extremely talented wildlife artist and conservationist and he shares both these passions with anyone who cares to visit.  Allow at least an hour to look around all his wonderful pictures which are for sale by the way.
