Film | Kestrel lays 2nd egg & calls out to partner to help incubate | Apollo & Athena

Moments after Athena the kestrel lays a second egg, she calls out to Apollo to come & take his turn at incubating.

Kestrel pair- Apollo and Athena

Relations between Apollo & Athena are often tense and as Athena lays her second egg of the season the strain between them is again apparent. Moments after laying her second egg of the season, Athena hops to the nest entrance and begins calling loudly and repeatedly for Apollo. Apollo arrives looking flustered. He has a vole in his mouth but is so keen to take his turn on the eggs he initially forgets to pass it to Athena. Of course, Apollo could just be in a tearing rush to see the egg, but given the history between this pair I suspect he is also anxious to do as he's told.
