Film | Kestrel lays clutch of six eggs | Apollo & Athena

Athena the kestrel now has six eggs. Watch as she lays them one by one and don't miss the moment her proud partner Apollo arrives to help out with incubating.

Apollo & Athena

These kestrels are now an experienced pair and this is the fourth year they have nested in Ash Wood, a restored woodland habitat. This clutch size is quite typical for the pair, although often not all eggs hatch. Last year Athena laid five eggs. Kestrels normally incubate for around 30 days, so we expect to be able to watch the chicks hatch out next month.
