Just listen to the gentle sounds of tawny owls as they call and hoot when courting. These calls are between tawny owl pair Bonnie & Ozzy as they resume their courtship at Ash Tree.

Tawny owl Ozzy joins partner Bonnie (left) on the branch outside the nest box and then flies to the entrance of the nest, but when Bonnie flits away he turns and makes a soft ocarina sound, calling from deep in his throat, to encourage her to inspect the nest. You can hear her soft hoots as she calls back to him in the background.

This pair have not nested in this box since 2022, so fingers-crossed this is a sign they might consider laying eggs here again - if Bonnie can only be persuaded by Ozzy to come back and take a close look!
