Gylfie the barn owl laid her first egg of 2024 on April 21. Watch her partner Dryer preen her lovingly as she settled down to brood after laying.

Barn owls Gylfie & Dryer are now in their second season together and have chosen to bring their new family up in my Ash Stump nest box. This nest box used to be a favourite of the kestrels, Mr & Mrs Kes, but last year Gylfie and Dryer did attempt a very late brood here. Sadly the eggs didn't hatch, but now they've chosen the box again.
